a question about sweet spot..and about restriction

Ok ladies...I have a question.

I have had 3 fills so far...my Dr thinks I have around 4.5cc in my band....
My last fill was last Thursday. I definetly see an improvement on my hunger level. I am just not hungry between meals like I was. and around 1 cup of food is satisfying me...but here is my question. For a couple of days now I have been craving like crazy a grilled cheese sandwich...I don't know why, but it's been driving me crazy! So today for lunch, I made myself 1/2 of a grilled cheese sandwich...and I was able to eat it, without any problems.....shouldn't I have issues getting bread down? shouldn't it have gotten stuck? does this mean I am not at my sweet spot because I can eat bread like that? I get confused on questions like this...please help :)

  1. I am guessing you are still too lose, but you might be close. Most people I have talked too couldn't eat grilled cheese once they got to their sweet spot. However, some people like it a little loose as long as their hunger is under control. Also depending on what kind of bread and how well done you made it maybe it was closer to toast then soft bread??? I know some people who eat toast easily and even quesadillas and they consider themselves in their sweet spot.

  2. Dont think bc you can eat half a grilled cheese that you don't have restriction. You may not be as tight as some others, but I have really good restriction and if I was careful and ate small bites...i bet I could eat half a grilled cheese as well. When we go out to eat I can eat a roll if I take little nibbles. If you can eat around 4 ounces of solid protein and stay satisfied for 3-4 hours...you are good.

  3. Everybody is different. When my band was at 4.5 ccs I could not eat bread, but I know some folks that can eat some bread. I guess it depends on if you've had any fluids and how slow you eat the bread. You know, if it's something you really want you should have it but in a very small quantity which is what you did. Is the craving gone now?

  4. I'm with Amy... don't assume that just because you could eat one piece of bread that you aren't at the right place. If you chewed it well, you could probably eat anything. I would wait a few days, and really watch the protein and make sure you aren't hungry between meals before determining if you need a fill... Good luck!

  6. I am glad you asked this question and to read the responses. I am going for fill # 3 and was going to ask about restriction. I could eat that sandwich along side of you, so I am guessing I am not at my sweet spot either.. I wish this didn't take so long to achieve..

  7. Remember, the Sweet Spot is a matter of choice...you decide how tight you want to be. I've been there since Sept. and if the sanwich was about 1C volume or less I could/have eaten grilled cheese (the whole thing...if it's thin). I don't have problems with bread (especially toasted or grilled), and I'm never hungry between meals. Just found your blog...can't wait to read more! I'm here:
